Project Objectives

The project focus on capacity building of youth organizations and training and support of youth to become entrepreneurs or being employed. To create this development, a group of young people are being trained, so they are well equipped to enter the labour market or start their own business. At the same time, the capacity is to be increased among a number of youth organisations in order to become better to cooperate with the labour market stakeholders, advocate for youth rights, and to support young people in their attempts to get jobs or to start up their own businesses.

Summary

In order to create stability and development in a country like Kenya, there is a need for active youth, involved in development of a better society. It is therefore important to reduce the high youth unemployment and youth crime, which are particularly evident in Nairobi's poorer neighbourhoods. In this context, FIC and Africa Youth Trust (AYT) have launched the project "Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi". The overall objective of the project is to increase youth access to a fair labour market.
