TrAIDe project ( Transport, Agriculture and Integrated Development)
Project Objectives
The TrAIDe Programme aims to understand the transport and logistics challenges faced by small holder farmers and in particular rural women in getting their produce to market, and to develop appropriate solutions to improve the efficiency (in terms of reduced financial cost and minimized delay) associated with these women getting their produce to market. The TrAIDe Programme will be implemented in Hawassa, approximately 200km from Addis Ababa. The focus of the programme will be to implement interventions across 50 communities supporting approximately 1,000 farmers in total (figures to be refined during the Needs Assessment phase). The TrAIDe Programme has five distinct phases, addressing both community transport constraints and upstream supply chain issues, as well as delivering impact at both local and global levels through the execution of a robust monitoring and evaluation programme leading to multi-level stakeholder advocacy.
