Project Objectives

To improve the socio-economic condition of communities in Dojob, Bosnia-Herzegovina, by supporting multiethnic cooperatives with microcredit programs.

Summary

Thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry, Legacoop and Boorea, GVC was able to establish 3 multiethnic agricultural cooperatives with 60 direct beneficiaries and 3 companies involved.

By providing access to microcredit, it was possible for the cooperatives to develop sustainable productive activities and improve technical and operational knowledge of the local agricultural production and market. The project included activities of construction renovation, equipment provision and sanitation and hygiene promotion and, thanks to the companies involved, access to markets with finished products.

The experts of Legacoop provided technical assistance throughout the project to all members especially through an intensive and comprehensive training course in the country, as well as a sponsored exchange visit to Italy where local cooperatives and authorities of Doboj were able to share knowledge and experiences with several Italian cooperatives.
