Project Objectives

The project aims to support the socio-economic participation of rural women in social economy networks both in in Tunisia and Morocco, through the structural support devoted to the strengthening and networking of  women’s cooperatives.

Summary

The project involved rural and  suburban agricultural areas of Tunisia and Morocco, where gender discrimination is more evident. The project is targeted to women’s associations and  cooperatives and it promotes (through literacy and education on civil and personal rights) social growth of women’s empowerment and supporting (through training, the exchange of best practices, the technical and financial support) the development and strengthening of the system association and sustainable economic growth.

In particular, the project supports 18 cooperatives and other groups through the development of action plans and individual strengthening, the allocation of micro grants  and implementation and monitoring of 20 micro-projects for productivity improvement of cooperatives; awareness seminars on issues related to health, civil and political rights; advocacy actions within the social economy through study visits and conferences; literacy courses and, finally, actions of awareness in Emilia - Romagna on the status of women in Morocco and Tunisia, through an initiative dedicated at  Expo-Milan 2015 and an international workshop.
