Project Objectives

Supporting small community of beekeepers of the Central American regions, encouraging the development of cooperative enterprises

Summary

The project involved some rural areas in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Brazil, Bolivia and Colombia, with the aim of supporting small community of local beekeepers. The initiative, coordinated and managed by Cooperativa Sin Fronteras, has favored the emergence and consolidation of micro association/ cooperatives, through follow-up and technical assistance, training on organizational aspects, enabling exchange of experience and establishment of business contacts with the world fair Trade cooperative Italian. Were also identified pathways for the certification of quality organic and fair trade. The intervention has therefore strengthened the technical and managerial capacity of groups and commercial beekeepers, enabling them to promote in local and international markets quality honey.
