Project Objectives

Improving the living conditions of the population through the support and promotion of traditional agricoltur as an income generating activity.

Summary

The project has supported the production of fine wine agro-Herzegovina region, an area with high agricultural and pastoral vocation, focusing on the dairy sector (Sack Cheese-Herzegovina Sir iz Mjeha), bees (area of Trebinje) and wine (areas from Stolac and Buna). In particular, the project aimed on the one hand to improve the skills of the managers of the institutions and other private entities that offer consulting services and planning agriculture and tourism and on the other to support the increase in the quality and quantity of dairy products, wine and beekeeping through specialized training, credit facilities and pilot interventions retraining and restructuring of local infrastructure. We will also create three collective subjects for the protection, enhancement and marketing of dairy products, wine and honey and disseminated valuable tools and marketing opportunities of traditional products backed by a hallmark. The processes of valorization of typical products and to promote the area have resulted in cross-activation systems for coordination between national and local institutions, producers' associations, NGOs, local development agencies and local producers. Through the joint efforts in many of the planned activities, the project has also supported the process of reconstruction of the socio-economic and cultural relations between the different communities in the Region. And finally, enhancing and promoting the value of traditional products of the region, has facilitated the development of forms of responsible tourism in rural areas of Herzegovina.
