Project Objectives

Promoting rural cooperative finance in Peru

Summary

The promotion of the rural cooperative finance has been obtained thanks to the opening of new saving and lending cooperatives or the opening of cooperatives’ branches in the rural zones of Peru. In the first two years 4 saving and lending cooperatives (coopac) have been opened along with three new branches. In the second two years (2009-2011), 6 new coopac has been opened, mainly dealing with microcredit funds created by Foncodes, Peruvian Local Development Cooperation Fund.
