The PESCAMED project was aimed at promoting the sustainable management of Mediterranean coastal territories and the management of common marine resources
Summary
The project remarked the importance of several social implications of the sector, drawing a picture of the Fishery Association and Trade Unions Organization in the Mediterranean area. In each Mediterranean country (Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco), experts participated to the data collection and analysis, for contributing to the dialogue between the Mediterranean countrie. The Project prepared a comprehensive description and analysis related both to the Fishery Association and to the Trade Unions highlithing their importance in the Mediterranean Countries. Fishing enterprises in the Mediterranean area are grouped, represented and organized under different organization with dissimilar objectives: from the social security issues, to the control and regulation of the activities, to the enterprises associations. The Associations can give a contribution to overcome the sector constrains implementing training, information, services, innovation in processes and products, technical assistance and bank loans. Lega Pesca as subcontractor has been in charge of analyzing the associative context in Croatia and Tunisia, preparing the Country Report Draft and finalising the Reports with the technical delegation of the two Countries throug several dedicated technical meetings. Lega Pesca experts participated also to the project training component in terms of planning, lecture organisation and teachers for 30 Mediterranean technicians working both in the public Institutions and in the private sector.
