Project Objectives
Supporting the basic health support
Summary
The project was about a Karamoja community located in a semidesert zone. Health education had been made to improve hygiene, nutrition and the fight against illnesses in order to decrease the mortality rate. The community workers of the nuns' Kanawat Health Centre make three times a week a visit to the villages. The health education activity is made through direct lessons and with the use of an active methodology, like visual portrayals, and with laboratory exams made with a Voluntary Counselling Testing methodology expecially regarding HIV/AIDS problems. The equipe is composed by one laboratory guy, 2 councellors, one driver and one health teacher. The money has been used to pay the professionals employed in the project and to make some adjustments to the infrastructures
