Project Objectives

To practice and spread the Social and Solidarity Economy in Tunisia as strategic element of regional development and inclusive economic alternative, creation of decent work and fight against unsafe migration.

Summary

The project aims to tackle  the problem of lack of job opportunities, uncertain future for unemployed youth and women living in disadvantaged areas of Tunisia, in particular Sibi bou Zid, through the program for the promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economie set up by UGTT in 2011 in collaboration with Nexus, CGIL and Legacoop and in accordance  to the strategy set out by Tunisian government in the Social Contract. The project will continue to accompany the economic realities of the regions of Jendouba and Siliana, main actors of the project Semedia.

In particular, the project promotes cooperation and supports the  start-up of new cooperatives. It is also envisaged to otganise a workshop  on the comparative legislative framework for cooperatives in Tunisia with specific focus exploration on agriculture and fisheries.
