Project Objectives

The objective is to strengthen UNAC’s capacity to undertake interest representation and provide member services. This includes developing a common organisational framework for UNAC structures at all levels, increased capacity to effectively engage in local and national policy making processes and increased capacity to provide member services.

Summary

We effect's support was shifted in 2014 from the Strengthening institutional Capacity of UNAC for Policy Advocacy and Service Delivery Project 2010-2013 to the Improved Service Delivery to Members Programme which is an overall programme of UNAC. The Programme tries to address its strategic plan 2011-2015. The goal is to improve incomes and livelihoods of farmers that are members of UNAC and the Programme objective is to increase the institutional capacity of UNAC to defend the rights of ists members as well as deliver services that positively impact on their agricultural incomes. Expected outcome results are a) Enhanced institutional capacity of UNAC, b) Improved productivity and marketing linkages, c) Agricultural policies and programmes influenced by UNAC and its membesr, d) Enhanced role of women in agriculture and UNAC, e) The role of youth in agriculture strengthened and f) Increased awareness of environment and climate change issues. The target group is 10 Provincial Farmers Unions, 83 District Farmers Unions, 87 000 individual members (37% men and 63% women) that are directly or indirectly affiliated to UNAC).
