Project Objectives

The objective of the Green Innovation Centre initiative in India is to strengthen the position of agricultural producers by enabling them to establish farmer producer organizations. The experiences in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana should serve as a pilot to transfer and tailor the approach to the project’s focal region in Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Summary

A concept for the promotion of farmer groups, cooperatives and farmer producer organizations in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka in cooperation with the local NGO will be introduced as well as capacity development measures as basic intrument to ensure sustainable and healthy growth of cooperatives. In selected target areas a training concept will be introduced to producer organizations, cooperatives, farmer groups and other stakeholders who are committed to the promotion of an organized producer base.
