Summary

The FUM Providing an Effective Voice for all the Malawian Farmers' Programme 2011-2015 is an overall Programme of FUM's activities that addresses its strategic plan for the same period. We Effect support to the Programme commenced in 2013. The goal is to contribute to rural povery alleviation by increasing the incomes and improve the livelihoods of the Malawian farmers.The Programme Objective is to strengthen the capacity of FUM to satisfy the policy and regulatory and service provision needs of its members (the FOs). The expected outcome results are,a) Improved agricultural policy and regulatory framework, b) Strengthened organisational capacity of FUM and affiliated member organisations and impoved provision of member services, c) Women farmer empowerment, d) Climate change programmes developed and implemented, e) FUM being a member driven, well structured & governed and sustainable organisations.The target group is not less than 52 farmers' associations of which 32 are commodity organisations and 18 are general farmers organisations and cooperative societies. It is estimated that approxemately 800 000 farmers are affiliated to the above associations.
