Project Objectives

The project is focused on promoting the financial inclusion through secured cooperative micro-finance services and will be implemented by two local partners in Northern and Southern provinces in Sri Lanka. Both organisations are working towards providing the credit and saving facilities targeting the poor women in the particular locations.

Summary

The project aims to strengthen the self-banking and primary women branches in promoting the women and youth empowerment, improve the knowledge on the cooperative concept and making a gender sensitive society within the two organisations and as well as within the targeted communities. At the end of five years, it is expected to increase the access to fair financial resources for the marginalized rural women and have increased women led groups and sustainable women led enterprises in cooperative approach.
