Economic and social development of marginalised women and girls
Project Objectives
The project will be implemented with 6 local partner organisations adopting the consortium approach, implementing in different geographical locations, covering 4 districts (Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Monaragala, and Matara) in Sri Lanka. The consortium project will contribute to the five areas of the country programme: Organisational development, Sustainable agriculture, Business development & financial inclusion, Gender equality promotion and Social Inclusion & reconciliation.
Summary
Trainers' Coop, one of the implementing partners under the consortium, will support the other organisations to improve their institutional & individual capacities and skills in organisational devlopment, finance management, good governance, leadership, etc. The consortuim intervention will target rural, marginalized, war-affected, vulnerable communities in the selected locations. The project is expected to improve the living conditions of 3250 families while enhancing the women empowerment, youth development, women entrepreneurship development, gender sensitized policy and practices for the small-scale farmers, strengthen fisheries, increase access to land & financial resources, increase the income of the targeted community at the end of five years. The expected long-term impact of the approach is to achieve the sustainable socio-economic development of poor and marginalized communities with equal rights.
