Project Objectives

Supporting the empowerment of services that provide care for people living with HIV who live in East and South Africa

Summary

The program aims to identify the nature of the epidemic in the community in terms of risk groups, delineate the stage of public health and the gravity of the epidemic, as well as to determine what is the nature of the responses required for the main social groups. The program aims to identify for the major social groups the socio-economic causes at individual, family, community and system level that can facilitate and block the availability, the access, the quality of care in relation to the resources available for prevention, treatment and care of HIV and AIDS. We tried to implement the "participatory research" (PR) with members of the community, with those who work in the health care system and community leaders in twelve different sites in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana and Tanzania with the purpose of mapping the contexts that affect the risk of HIV and AIDS.
