Summary
The “Cassava Cooperative Development Project” aims to develop Mozambique’s cassava value chain to meet the market demand and improve smallholders’ livelihood. Its specific objective is to support smallholder agriculture producers to constitute and operate a cassava processing and marketing cooperative in order to increase incomes and employment of its members. It will be implemented by DGRV in partnership with an association of small farmers from Inhambane province.
Considering the high relevance of cassava in term of food security and its economic potential as a processed and packed product, the project will support the improvement of cultivation practices and the constitution of a processing/marketing cooperative in Inharrime district in order to increase the income and food security of 120 smallholders’ families (around 600 people).
The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
