Project Objectives

The project wish to reach the following expected results: Organization Capacity of Implementing Partner(s) strengthened, Strengthened Member Based Organizations in place, on farm tree cover through application of agro forestry technologies increased, Sustainable Agriculture and Land Management practices enhanced and Diversified and Sustainable sources of energy and agro forestry products attained. Effective implementation of the project interventions will ensure application of the best agricultural production and environmental strategies to enhance profitability that will contribute to increased farmers’ income hence reduce food insecurity and poverty. Also the project will contribute towards reducing the outspread of HIV and AIDS, increase participation of women, men and youth, increase awareness on environment, human rights and conservation among farmers.

Summary

Afforestation for climate change Adaptation and Agricultural Productivity Project (ACCAP) focuses on increased agricultural productivity and improved Climate Change to the small holder farmers of Northern Tanzania in 8 districts of Arusha and Kilimanjaro Regions. The Project objective is to increase incomes of women, men and youth by 10% through Sustainable Agricultural and proper Land use Management practices by 2016. The Project will address the following major problems: Low agricultural production, vulnerability to Climate Change and low income among small holder farmers of the project area. The Project will reach the target groups through Producer Groups, and Farmer Associations. Mobilization meetings and seminars will be used to create awareness on various themes, while trainings will be organized to impart knowledge and technical skills on the selected production avenues.
