Supporting PACU Strategy: Strengthened Cooperative Movement
Project Objectives
The project aims at strengthening the agricultural coops and rural development in general through strengthening PACU’s capacities in providing collective services for its members, thus, the member coop societies are strengthened to address the needs and rights of their members and communities. Also, this project will promote gender equality through advocacy campaigns and promoting women participation and focus on women entrepreneurship components.
Summary
Results expected from this project:
• Strengthened organisational Capacities of PACU and its member coops through increased membership of the agricultural coops.
• Upgrading and implementing the M&E system.
• Increased business capacity of PACU and its members through providing business development services and updating and implementing PACU’s annual business plan.
• Improved service delivery to member coops by facilitating collective purchases and creating marketing channels for member coops.
• Improved agricultural sustainable production by advocating and supporting Good Agricultural Practices and quality standards to members and improving the quality of the cooperative members’ products.
• Promoted women equal rights of access to economic opportunities and participation at PACU and its members by:
- the FRAS system to measure fair resource allocation (50% to women)
- Increasing women members' participation in the coops
- Women empowerment trainings in leadership and management skills.
- Promoting and advocating for women’s rights and gender equality (advocacy campaign)
