Project Objectives

The project supported the local family farmers associations in the southern region of the Bahia state.

Summary

This project reinforced the network of family farmers in the south of the state of Bahia, increasing the contractual sway of family farmers in the sale of their products, developed rural associationism, and reduce the phenomenon of youth immigration from rural areas to the cities.

The activities include:

 • Creation of a Center for family farming (CAF) for data collection and service provision in agriculture at the headquarters of FETRAF Bahia, which has created the conditions necessary for and/or favor the sale of products arriving from peripheral rural areas;

• Creation of a low cost wireless network which covers the vast project area;

• Creation of 5 agro-economic development centers through the territory for all members, in direct contact with the data collection and service center, used for training courses, as an Internet access point for members and non-members, meeting house, etc.
