Project Objectives

Contribute to improving productive systems in Puna through revival and reinforcement of traditional activities, such as family agriculture, agriculture and breeding activities (llama raising; organic cultivation; abandoned traditional cultivations as such quinoa), salt sales, revival of antique Andean textile techniques, and rural tourism within the community.

Summary

Through new cooperatives and a better management of consortia, the productive system based on the

traditional activities of six native communities of Kolla ethnicity living in vulnerable socio-economic

situations in the Province of Jujuuy has been improved.

The activities include:

• Development of rural tourism in the community;

• Improvement of the management skills of the “Salinas Grandes” cooperative;

• Development of the infrastructure of irrigation and agricultural consortia;

• Support to the creation of cooperatives and productive associations;

• Revival of artisan llama and alpaca wool production, and Andean techniques for working textiles.
