Project Objectives

  1. Women rights
  2. Women empowerement

Summary

The project is a pilot project tracking AGRICOOP Colombia.

300 women have decided to come together to form solidarity organizations, cooperatives of local handicrafts, associations of producers of agricultural products and organizations for the defense of women rights. With the support of Coopermondo and of the local association for economic development Adel Casa del Agua, and thanks to the co-financing of SENA (the Agency for vocational training of the Ministry of Labour of Colombia) those women will follow a path towards the establishment of the cooperatives and other solidarity organizations, besides fair trade certification.

Technical assistance and training is based on weaknesses that have been developed by the same beneficiaries:

  • Leadership
  • Organizational processes
  • Cooperativism
  • Communication and marketing
  • Food safety and food security

Women have also assumed their own responsibilities, which will develop by themselves, with minimal support the project.

  • Training to other women
  • Increasing the social basis for future solidarity organizations, cooperatives and associations.
  • Increasing members’ participation
