Project Objectives

To improve the social inclusion of communities through a multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach focused on children's community education.

Summary

Thanks to the support of several local and international stakeholders, GVC’s action in Pemba, Belo Horizonte, and Reggio Emilia focused on reinforcing the role of Local Authorities in designing and governing educational policies, empowering communities to become active actors in educational development, improving quality education by designing new methodologies that require the involvement of schools and communities (as well as social, cultural and sport associations).

The community process was initiated by creating common spaces in which local forum-gathering, training workshops and campaigns to raise public awareness were organized to create an efficient and constructive synergy between 3 local authorities, 3 schools, 15 civil society organizations and families in the 3 project communities. The project has targeted 6,000 individuals and has also enhanced the professional proficiency of teachers, school staff, local authorities and NGOs.
