Summary

The project aims to improve the hygienic standards of the products of small-scale fisheries in four target countries of West Africa, harmonizing their standards to those of the European Union. This will be done through capacity building activities and the reorganization of the sector, to overcome the SPS barriers that limit the possibility of the artisanal fishermen to benefit from the international integration of markets. Lega Pesca is involved in the realization of services of Technical Assistance for the training of artisanal fishermen and the competent authorities of the four countries on Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary treatment of the fish products, in view of European standards. The project includes a specific focus on strengthening the cooperative organization in the fishery sector, especially for marketing the products.
