Summary

Design and making of an exhibition of books dedicated to Africa. The touring exhibition intended to make known Africa through the best editorial products aimed at children and young people in recent years introducing numerous works, both of African production and international publishers. On the occasion of the exhibition were made two paths of animated reading specific for the city's schools. The ABC project was included in the calendar of the initiative Proud to Read, sponsored by the City and the Province of Bologna. A specific schedule of meetings kept together by the Cooperative Giannino Stoppani Drosselmeier and the Academy of Bologna was attended by some member of the project staff in schools in the province of Bologna for a total of 12 meetings in the area. The exhibition was accompanied by a printed catalog (2000 copies distributed in 2011 alone), implemented under the project, which contains the reflections of some specialists on the use of the book as a "tool" for development education, addressing in particular institutions and organizations that deal with international cooperation (local authorities, non-governmental organizations, third sector associations). On 31 March 2011, at the Municipal Library Sala Borsa (Bologna), a public meeting was organized on the issues of publishing dedicated to Africa, which was attended by Veronique Tadjo, Ivorian writer and illustrator candidate for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award Award 2011; Viviana Quinones, director of the youth section of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France; Marcella Terrusi, representative of IBBY Italy; Grazia Gotti, the founder of the Cooperative Editorial Giannino Stoppani of Bologna.
