Project Objectives

To promote the full development and social and family integration of deaf children and young people from families with limited economic possibilities who are living in the marginal areas of the city of Santiago; promote the spread of sign language and deaf’s culture by empowering hearing people in helping people with hearing disabilities.

Summary

The project carried out the following activities: - Educational support for children and young people suffering from hearing impairment; - Training workshops about work with the objective of providing adolescents and young people the knowledge and the skills they can use on the labor market; - Support for families of deaf children and young people in order to help them to cope in a positive way the hearing disability of their children; - Courses in sign language to spread the language and culture of deaf people in civil society; - Promotion and protection of rights of persons with hearing impairment (in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities).
