ZNFU Core Support Programme - Phase II
Project Objectives
The overall objective is to contribute to improved food security for poor female and male smallholder farmers through strengthening of district-level farmers associations (DFAs), that make up the membership of Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU). Specific objectives are to strengthen leadership capacity, membership mobilisation and capacity of local membership to influence national and regional policy making.
Summary
The ZNFU CSP Phase II Programme 2014-17 is a successor programme to the CSP Phase I Programme 2009-13. The overall goal is to contribute towards the realization of a sustainable and competitive agricultural sector that contributes to improved househol food security, on-farm incomes and employment creation in Zambia. The Programme objective is to bring about a strengthened ZNFU with improved sustainability, strong leadership and organisational structures providing effective member representation and services. The expected outcome results are a) strong leadership and organisational structures that effectively and effeciently serve its membership, while fully exploiting its income generation capacity, b) be able to provide diversified and improved services directly benefitting the membership in terms of viability, incomes and food security, c) positively influence the Zambian policy and regulatory environment at all levels. The target group is not less than 50 000 small-scale farmers that are members of more than 50 affiliated District Farmers Associations and 6 selected Commodity Associations.
