Summary

The CAZ Addressing Cotton Farmers Needs Programme 2014 - 2018 is a successor programme to the 2010 - 2013 Programme. The goal is to contribute to rural povery alleviation by increasing the incomes and improve the livelihoods of cotton farmers with special empasis on the key role women play in this endeavour. The programme objective is to strengthen the capacity of CAZ to satisfy the cotton producers' needs. Expected outcome results include a) Self-financing and indepenent cotton farmers, b) A farmer owned/ controlled ginning enterprise established and operationalised, c) Improved cotton production and productivity, d) Strengthened organisational capacity of CAZ, e) Improved/ increased value addition within the cotton value chain, and f) Improved cotton development policies. The overall target group is 255 000 cotton producers in Zambia and the direct target group is not less than 26 000 members (16,990 men and 8,766 women) of CAZ.
