Promoting cooperative and solidarity economy in Gaza enhancing the role of the women in the local economy.
Project Objectives
Increase the degree of economic and social self-determination of women in two fishing communities located in the village of Swedish village and Beit Lahiya, Gaza Strip.
Summary
The project starts from a participatory action research on community needs and opportunities of the target action (Swedish village and Beit Lahiya). The study will involve the beneficiaries of the project, their families, local authorities, civil society organizations and trade unions of fishermen to gather recommendations that maximize the effectiveness of planned activities and ensure the feasibility and sustainability of cooperatives created during the project. The beneficiaries are women between 20 and 50 years , belonging to families of fishermen involved in fishing related activities (networks repairs, cleaning and selling fish. The project includes a training program for the promotion of cooperative and solidarity economy with the aim of enabling the beneficiaries to give birth to cooperative enterprises in accordance with the principles of international solidarity cooperative. The program also includes training modules for trainers experts on the development of capabilitities and cooperative, self-employment youth and women.
