Management of the Centre for women's health and the prevention of female genital mutilation in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Summary
The project was created to support the center for women's health and the prevention of female genital mutilation (FGM) in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, a reality where more than 70 percent of women have undergone some form of genital mutilation . The Centre - created dall'Aidos together with other associations Burkina Faso - provides primary gynecological services, psychological counseling and legal to deal with the traumas caused by FGM and training and sex education aimed at adolescents and men. In 2012 alone, the Centre has offered assistance to 5,000 women and children for their reproductive health; 130 cases were followed for psychological problems, 200 women received legal services; 4,222 people - including 1,666 girls and boys - have been sensitized on the issues of sexual and reproductive health.
