Project Objectives

Activities relief to the hundreds of thousands of victims of the floods that hit Pakistan in summer 2010

Summary

The project - made possible thanks to the MSF Emergency Fund - has allowed us to bring immediate aid and medical assistance to the hundreds of thousands of victims of the torrential rains and floods that hit Pakistan in late July and early August 2010. MSF was the first international emergency organization to respond to the disaster in the impacted areas: efforts have been directed to ensure access to free medical care and sources of drinking water (in order to prevent the outbreak of disease) while also providing basic necessities and temporary housing. MSF staff carried out more than 160,000 doctor visits and treated 8,800 malnourished children, were also distributed 73,000 kits and 22,000 tents necessities, providing daily delivery of 2.1 million gallons of clean water.
