Project Objectives

Strengthening the cooperation and contributing to Turkey's harmonization to the EU fisheries policy by

Summary

Specific objective 1: Reconstructing the existing marketing processes according to the EU standards by training 250 persons among fishermen, sales agents and operators of the fishery value chain in Sinop/Güzelkent on the EU marketing standards 2. Establish long term partnerships between the Turkish fisheries actors and the European ones. Activities: An analysis of the existing situation has been carried out. A comparative education was aimed at grasping the differences between the EU fisheries marketing standards and the applications in Turkey. A Working visit in Italy of a team of 15 decision makers of the fishery sector has been implemented in order to creating cooperation opportunities. A Job-training (80 hours) was realized for practicing the elements learned in the comparative education, with the participation of Italian experts and fishermen. A survey for the employees of the partners was done for measuring how the y look at the cooperation and how they perceive the other countries fisheries sector. A Common Mind Meeting has summed up the stages of the project and its results, possible future cooperation activities have been debated, and a Strategic Cooperation Agreement has been signed.
