Project Objectives

To assess the potential of Ardaita College as a centre of excellence for the training, education and development of co-operatives and produce a detailed report of the organisational audit focusing on governance, management, operations, organisational structure, capacity and the curriculum of Ardaita College. The deliverables were: 1. A detailed report of an organisational audit, focusing on governance, management, operations, organisation structure, capacity and curriculum of Ardaita ATVET College. 2. Analysis of the current capacity building programmes and gaps in the co-operative sector (boards, co-operative employees, co-operative promoters, regulators and government co-operative officials). 3. A detailed and comprehensive business plan for a CoCE. 4. A detailed and comprehensive operating plan for a CoCE. 5. Recommendations as to what government can do to facilitate the development of the Ardaita ATVET College into a CoCE. 6. Monthly progress reports. 7. A report for each phase of the work. 8. Presentation of draft and final reports to key stakeholders.

Summary

The Co-operative College assessed the potential of Ardaita College in Ethiopia to be a centre of excellence for the training, education and development of co-operatives across the whole of Ethiopia and produced: i) a detailed report of the organisational audit; ii) an analysis of the current capacity building programmes and gaps in the co-operative sector (boards, co-operative employees, co-operative promoters, regulators and government co-operative officials); iii) a detailed and comprehensive business plan for a CoCE; iv) a detailed and comprehensive operating plan for a CoCE; v) recommendations as to what government can do to facilitate the development of the Ardaita ATVET College into a CoCE; vi) a report for each phase of the work; vii) a presentation of draft and final reports to key stakeholders in Ethiopia.
